Domaine d'Auriac
Domaine d’Auriac is a beautiful hotel, and the perfect luxury hotel for a stay in the region. It is only 5 minutes drive from La Cité, the mediaeval village of Carcassonne, but far enough away to escape ‘the masses’ during the summer months! It is well positioned for travel in to the Minervois and the Corbières, for walking or historical excursions. This is the heart of the Cathar region, so for the lovers of mediaeval history it is a perfect location.
Domaine d’Auriac stands in a three hundred year old park and overlooks an 18-hole golf course. It has a large swimming pool, a tennis court and elegant gardens.
The service is extremely good, being friendly whilst discreet and efficient.
The main restaurant is exceptional, and you can take your meals either in the dining room, or out on the terrace. There is also a bistro restaurant for lighter meals.
The 24 bedrooms are well appointed with good en-suite bathrooms. The hotel also has 3 suites, which they call “houses” that are very spacious, and are set away from the main building. The more expensive rooms do have more space, and better views.
“Here On The Spot” believes this is the best hotel in the area. It is expensive, (but not the most expensive) but well worth the money. They have firm rules about children’s behaviour in the public areas, allowing peace for everyone. Overall it is an elegant hotel, with high standards, and the perfect getaway for adults who want to spoil themselves.
